The Chinese Economic Miracle:
Can It Last?
On June 18, 2009 the City Club will welcome special guest Dr. Michael Boll to present and discuss "The Chinese Economic Miracle: Can It Last?"
This discussion will explore three specific issues related to China. The first focus will be on the state of the Chinese economy. Given the worldwide economic downturn, the discussion will include the security of China's economy and whether the downturn poses a threat to Western economic dominance. The second look will be at the current political system in China and the policies being implemented to insure social stability. Finally, in response of the most recent Defense White Paper (January, 2009) which indicates the Chinese military is modernizing, the City Club will explore what China perceives to be the biggest threats to the republic.
The Forum will begin at 11:30 and conclude at 1:00 p.m. City Club Forums are conducted at St. Charles Center for Health and Learning, 2500 NE Neff Road in Bend.
