ENERGY ALTERNATIVES:

Oregon’s Inducements and Incentives

The City Club of Central Oregon will conduct its third Thursday Forum on February 21, 2008. Peter West, Director of Renewable Energy Programs, of the Energy Trust of Oregon and Pat Egan, VP of Customer and Community Affairs for Pacific Power will present “Energy Alternatives: Oregon’s Inducements and Incentives.”

Pat Egan, will discuss the passage of SB 838, Oregon's Renewable Portfolio Standard and the company's position on and role in passing the legislation. In addition, he will cover Pacific Power's significant investment in wind projects in Oregon and throughout the west, along with its award winning renewable energy program, Blue Sky. Pacific Power was just named the US EPA Green Power Program of the Year for its well-managed program and its number two ranking in customer participation.

The Energy Trust of Oregon is an organization active in developing programs to help Oregonians directly invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy. In 2005 the American Wind Energy Association presented its Special Achievement Award to Peter West and the Energy Trust.

More than 4,500 area business and residents have invested about $14 million to lower their energy bills and produce renewable energy. These funds have been supported by $3.5 million in incentives from the Energy Trust of Oregon. Central Oregon is one of the leaders in the state in the number solar systems and is forging ahead with other renewable resources. The Energy Trust has additional funding to support more projects in the area. Peter West will talk about how you can tap into that money. 

The Forum will begin at 11:30 and conclude at 1:00 p.m. and will be conducted at the St. Charles Center for Health and Learning at 2500 NW Neff Road, Bend, Oregon.
