City Club of Central Oregon's First Annual Meeting

The City Club of Central Oregon will conduct its first Annual Meeting during which time the membership will elect its Board of Directors for 2008.  The Nominations Committee has presented the following slate of nominees for one officer position and four Board positions up for re-election:

Stephen Hacker (President Elect)

Peter Schneider (incumbent, Board Position 5)
Ted Johnson (incumbent, Board Position 6)
Barry Jordan (incumbent, Board Position 7)
Larry Broderick (incumbent, Board Position 8)
Pat Ackley

Bylaw 4.4 Election also stipulates that additional nominations may be made from the floor by City Club members.

Successes and Failures

At the conclusion of the City Club business meeting and election, the City Club will welcome Susan Hammer, immediate past president of the City Club of Portland who will share information and lessons from its 91 years of operation and presence in Portland.  Ms. Hammer will discuss the opportunities and challenges of building a new City Club.  She will identify what a City Club can and should bring to a community and how to best create an organization of meaning for the community.  Members will be asked to join in discussion about what Central Oregon needs from a vibrant City Club, and how the Club can move forward in becoming a sustainable, valuable resource for the citizens of Central Oregon.

 Susan Hammer, is an attorney, mediator and arbitrator, focusing on business and employment disputes. She has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America 2005-2006 for dispute resolution. Hammer was formerly a partner with Stoel Rives LLP and is an active member of the Oregon and Washington bar associations. She has served as a mediator for 18 years, as a practicing attorney for 30 years and is a Fellow in the International Academy of Mediators. Hammer is dedicated to public service. She is the past president of the board of Planned Parenthood of the Columbia/Willamette and currently serves on the board of trustees for Willamette University. Hammer has been a member of City Club since 1981.

The City Club Forum will begin at 11:30 a.m. on November 16th and conclude at 1:00 p.m. The Forum will be conducted at St. Charles Center for Health and Learning at 2600 Neff Road in Bend, Oregon.  Pre-registration is required.  You may use the online registration to register and pre-pay for your lunch with a credit card.
