A Design for Change:
Goals and a Willingness to Adopt a New System of Care
The City Club of Central Oregon with the generous support of Clear Choice Health Plans will conduct a three program series on healthcare reform. The initial gathering on August 13, 2008 will be focused on the current state of healthcare. The September 17 gathering will focus on the future state of healthcare - or building a vision for healthcare, and finally on October 14 the focus will be on closing the gap between current and future, or creating a concrete design for change.
This series will employ a World Cafe methodology to investigate the topics with Series Facilitator, John Blakinger leading the process and Teresa Bidlake, Graphic Facilitator, serving as the event recorder. Jim Lussier, Founder TLC/The Lussier Center and Stephen Hacker, Founder, Transformational Systems International, LLC. will provide background and relevant facts to initiate and inform discussion.
This series will focus on a discussion of the characteristics of the current healthcare system in Central Oregon and the nation. We will discuss what should be preserved and what must change. The desired principles of a more equitable system that addresses the adverse characteristics of the current system will be discussed. Additionally, a plan for how a new system of healthcare services can be developed, including the changes that must be accepted and adopted, will be addressed.
